On July 1, the Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. United States, the D.C. election interference case against former President Donald Trump, that former presidents of the United States enjoy "absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within [their] conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority." And former presidents enjoy "at least presumptive immunity from prosecution" for all official acts. The Court also held that presidential immunity does not extend to unofficial acts.

At 2pm ET today, Lawfare Editor-in-Chief Benjamin Wittes, Lawfare Senior Editors Quinta Jurecic and Roger Parloff, Lawfare Courts Correspondent and Legal Fellow Anna Bower, and Bryant Smith Chair in Law at the University of Texas at Austin Lee Kovarsky will discuss the Court's ruling, what it means for the D.C. case against the former president, and when pre-trial proceedings may resume.

Material supporters will receive a link to join a Zoom webinar to watch the discussion without ads. It will be livestreamed on YouTube for all other viewers. Find the livestream here.

If you can’t attend the live event, the recording will be available immediately afterward on Lawfare’s YouTube channel or later on the Lawfare Podcast feed.
