The Brookings Institution hosted the launch of their new volume this week, which deals with the conundrum of U.S.-China relations.

Michael O'Hanlon of the Brookings Institution has co-authored Strategic Reassurance and Resolve: U.S.-China Relations in the Twenty-First Century with Jim Steinberg, Dean of Syracuse’s Maxwell School. The Brookings Institution hosted the launch of their new volume this week, which deals with the conundrum of U.S.-China relations. There are a lot of issues of relevance to Lawfare in the bilateral relationship: Cyber security is probably the one that comes immediately to mind, particularly after the Snowden revelations, but China’s assertiveness in the South China Sea is also a major sticking point. This event provides an excellent overview of the numerous military and security issues on the table---and offers policy recommendations for both countries to pursue that will advance their national interests.

Ritika Singh was a project coordinator at the Brookings Institution where she focused on national security law and policy.
