On Oct. 18, former President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit against: Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol; the House Select Committee; David Ferriero, the Archivist of the United States; and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The lawsuit alleges that the committee’s request for records from NARA are “unprecedented in their breadth and scope and are untethered from any legitimate legislative purpose.” Trump is asking the court to stop the delivery of requested documents by issuing a “declaratory judgement that the Committee’s requests are invalid and unenforceable under the Constitution and laws of the United States,” as well as a injunctions against NARA and the Archivist of the United States and Rep. Thompson. You can read the complaint here and below.
