Bahrad A. Sokhansanj

Bahrad is a senior research scholar at the Institute for Law & AI. He focuses on U.S. law and policy for AI governance, with an emphasis on AI safety, biosecurity, and First Amendment and intellectual property issues in AI regulation. Before joining LawAI, Bahrad practiced as a litigator and clerked for Chief Judge Sharon Prost on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit after receiving his JD from Columbia Law School. Before his legal career, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at Drexel University. He received his PhD from the University of California, Davis.
