Candace Rondeaux is a professor at Arizona State University and senior director of the Future Frontlines program at New America. She is the author of the forthcoming book “Putin’s Sledgehammer: The Wagner Group and Russia’s Collapse Into Mercenary Chaos” (Public Affairs, 2025).
