Another Image On My Mind Today. . .
...is that of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music--perhaps the building in the world that most resembles the towers. Built approximately ten years earlier by the same architect, Minoru Yamasaki, it is a kind of dry run for the World Trade Center despite being only a few stories high. I spent a great deal of time in this building as an undergraduate at Oberlin listening to concerts.

When I see it today, I have powerfully mixed emotions; it reminds me of great music--and September 11.
