On Monday, my Brookings colleague
Bruce Riedel held an excellent discussion with Philip Mudd, former deputy director of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center and author of the new book
Takedown: Inside the Hunt for Al Qaeda. Mudd has also served as
the deputy director of the FBI’s National Security Branch and as the FBI’s senior intelligence adviser. They discussed the relative importance of counterterrorism versus other national priorities and threats, the successes and failures of the fight against Al Qaeda, the Boston Marathon bombings and many other subjects of interest to the
Lawfare readership.
One administrative note: From now on, we will be trying to run podcasts biweekly on Sundays. We will often---as we did with this episode---make the episode available earlier in the week for those who subscribe to it (for example,
through iTunes). But to regularize podcast postings, the post associated with each episode will go live alternating Sunday mornings at 10:00 am Eastern time.
