House Select Committee on CCP Hears Preliminary Testimony

On Feb. 28, the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) held its first hearing to discuss the threat posed by the CCP to U.S. national security. The committee focused on trade competition, social media surveillance, and food security concerns. Witnesses included former Trump administration officials H.R. McMaster and Matthew Pottinger, who served as national security adviser and deputy national security adviser, respectively, as well as Tong Yi, a Chinese human rights advocate, and Scott Paul, president of the Alliance for Manufacturing.
