According to Iraqi officials, Iran fired 22 missiles at two bases in Iraq that host U.S. troops, reports the Wall Street Journal. No American or Iraqi casualties were sustained, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials, although Iranian state television claimed that 80 U.S. military personnel were killed.

A Boeing 737-800 airliner carrying at least 176 people bound for the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran, reports the New York Times. Everyone on board was killed in the crash.

The state-run Kuwait News Agency reported that hackers had posted fake tweets through the Kuwait News Agency’s Twitter account claiming that U.S. troops would be withdrawn from a Kuwaiti base, reports the Washington Post.

Opponents of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro forced their way into the country’s parliament to install opposition leader Juan Guaidó as the interim president, according to CNN. Guaidó and his supporters had been kept out of parliament by troops loyal to Maduro on Sunday during the elections for Assembly Leader.

Two earthquakes hit Puerto Rico this week, triggering blackouts in much of the country, reports the Post. At least one person has died so far.
